What to Wear??
Choosing outfits for photos can be a bit overwhelming, but have no fear! It’s really not as hard as it seems. Here is a brief, step-by-step guide to making it easier.
Step 1:
Choose your colours. The goal here is not to be matchy-matchy (think everyone in white t-shirts and jeans… this is NOT what we are going for!). Pick one neutral colour (black, grey, white), a darker colour (navy, forest green, burgundy, etc.), and finally a brighter complementary colour. Some choices could be grey, navy, and red, or black, burgundy, and light blue. Use your imaginations.
Step 2:
Go for variety (but not too much!). Too many patterns, or too big of patterns, can be overwhelming. Don’t mix plaid and polka dots. One or two patterned pieces is plenty.
Step 3:
Lay everything out together. If something stands out or doesn’t feel right, consider changing it. Take a photo and ask for opinions. Send it to me - I’d love to help!
Step 4:
Pick comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes! Don’t wear a strappy sundress if it’s only going to be 5 degrees, or a chunky sweater in plus 30. If it’s not something you would normally wear, or if it’s out of your comfort zone, the wrong-size-but-super-cute, choose something different. If you aren’t comfortable, it will show in the photos.
Step 5:
Pay attention to footwear! Shoes get overlooked a lot, and your kiddo (or hubby!) may love his neon orange sneakers, but they will be very noticeable. Again, aim for something comfortable, that you can move in, and that is in good shape. Be aware of where you are going. Heels are great if we’re staying on paved pathways. If you’re wading through waist high pasture grass, flats will always be a better choice!
Choosing outfits can be tricky, but with a little patience, it’s easy to find a look that everyone will love!
